After you’ve mastered the basics of Ukrainian, getting to the next level of fluency can be really difficult. That’s because you need to find ways to immerse yourself in the language. Without someone guiding you, finding entertaining Ukrainian content seems impossible!

That’s exactly what LingQ does though. It has a huge library of native Ukrainian videos, podcasts, and books to help you immerse yourself in the language. If you find something you like that’s not available on LingQ, you can also import it and create your own lessons automatically. Read more about how it works in this LingQ review.

  • Import your own content and automatically generate new lessons

The LingQ app costs between $7.99 and $39.99 per month depending on the length of your subscription and which features you want. You can also access quite a bit of content for free on LingQ though. I definitely recommend trying it out to see if you like it before paying for a subscription.

italki app homepage

To fully immerse yourself in Ukrainian, your best option is to practice with native Ukrainian speakers. If you don’t know any, don’t worry! The italki app can help you easily find a Ukrainian tutor in minutes.

I recommend using italki over other platforms because it’s always safe and secure. italki will always protect your payment, and each tutor must complete an application process before teaching on the platform. You can learn more about it in this italki review.

Best App to Learn Ukrainian in Context

Clozemaster app homepage

To really become fluent in Ukrainian, it’s important to understand how to use words in different contexts. Sometimes meanings can change depending on the situation, which can be really confusing for language learners.

Clozemaster helps you learn the different meanings of common Ukrainian words and phrases. It’s definitely not the most flashy app, but its content and teaching approach are high-quality. You can read more about how it works in this Clozemaster review.

Key Features

  • Learn and practice thousands of words in different contexts
  • Complete different activities to remember new vocabulary
  • Focus on different word categories

Most of the content in Clozemaster is completely free, which is amazing! For access to additional features, you can subscribe to Clozemaster Pro, which starts at $8.00 per month. I honestly think the free version works just fine though.

Best Free App to Learn Ukrainian

Duolingo App Homepage

You may have heard of Duolingo before. It’s one of the most popular language learning apps available today. And the reason it’s on this list is because its Ukrainian course is completely free!

You can use Duolingo to learn basic Ukrainian, but it definitely won’t help you become fluent. The activities are fun and usually helpful, so it can be a good place to start your language learning journey. It’s important to note that it doesn’t teach you the Ukrainian alphabet though (you can learn that here). Read more about Duolingo in this review.

Key Features

  • Learn basic Ukrainian words and phrases
  • Games are fun and help you remember new vocabulary
  • Study different topics and situations

The Duolingo app is free to use, but it is ad-supported. This means that advertisements will frequently interrupt your learning. You can get rid of them by subscribing to Duolingo Plus, which costs between $6.99 and $12.99 per month. I don’t think Duolingo Plus is worth the money though.

Why You Should Use Apps To Learn Ukrainian

There are a lot of different ways you can study languages, but using apps to learn Ukrainian is the most efficient. That’s because language learning apps help you focus on specific skills and topics. Other learning tools like textbooks are very rigid.

I also enjoy studying with language apps because they offer a more personalized experience. The activities are usually fun, the lessons are short, and they can also track your progress!

How To Use Apps To Learn Ukrainian

Language apps are useful tools to learn Ukrainian, but they’re just that – tools. It’s your responsibility to use them, and it’s important that you use the ones most helpful for you.

Each app on this list offers different features, learning experiences, and content. I always recommend using a few different apps at the same time because this will give you a more well-rounded understanding of Ukrainian. You can use Pimsleur to improve your conversation skills, LingQ to improve your reading, and Mango Languages to beef up your grammar (for example).
